SUKKUR: NAB arrests four teachers

SUKKUR, Dec 6: The NAB team has arrested four teachers for their alleged involvement in misappropriating millions of rupees from Shikarpur, on Wednesday.

The arrested primary school teachers were Manzoor Solangi, Mohammad Khan Khoso, Umer Mangi and Nazir Memon. A fifth accused and former Executive District Officer (Education) Abdul Karim Malano was not arrested for being seriously sick.

The NAB team unearthed misappropriation of Rs260 million in the General Provident Fund of the employees of Education Department in 2003, and after extensive inquiry around 67 officials including teachers, clerks, EDOs, accountants and others were found guilty.

The EDO Education, Shikarpur told journalists that 57 out of 67 accused had so far been arrested.

However, raids were under way to arrest the remaining 10.
