KARACHI, Dec 6: Renowned local classical singers and instrumentalists, as well as artists from India, the US and the UK, will perform at a three-day music festival that is due to kick off at the Arts Council here on Friday (today) at 8pm.

The programme coordinator of the International Music Festival, Mohammed Ahmed Shah, told Dawn that the line-up included instrumentalists, ghazal singers and classical vocalists, adding that entry to the event was free.

Some of the artists scheduled to perform include singers Salamat Ali, Azra Riaz, Salman Alvi, Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, Mehnaz, Aslam Hussain Khan (India), Gulbahar Bano, Hamid Ali Khan, sitar players Nafees Ahmed and Ustad Rafat Khan (India) and tabla-nawaz Ustad Bashir Ahmed Khan. Nafees Ahmed and guitarist Adnan Afaq are also due to perform a fusion piece.
