OSLO, Dec 4: Norwegian police said Tuesday they had sent 39 Croatian football fans home on a charter flight following a three-day detention which was caused by their reported bad behaviour on a ferry.
The 39 Dynamo Zagreb fans arrived on a bus last week in Bergen a few days ahead of their side’s UEFA Cup tie with local side Brann.
After reports of loutish behaviour on the ferry which took them to Norway from Denmark, the ferry company refused to allow them to board for the return journey, forcing them into detention under immigration laws.
They eventually left for Zagreb on Tuesday, although the charter flight company — aware of the ferry reports — demanded the presence of 39 accompanying police officers.— AFP
