‘Fight for reinstatement of judges to continue’

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: Awami Jamhoori Ittehad, an alliance of left-wing political workers and intellectuals, has vowed to continue with the struggle for restoration of pre-November 3 judiciary and boycott elections.

Convenor of the alliance, Jamil Abbasi in a statement who was freed from jail recently, said that any political party that participates in the elections would be compromising on the basic principles that had guided the popular movement since March 9.

Mr Abbasi said the renewal of state repression in the form of trumped-up criminal cases against journalists and political activists of the twin cities of Rawalpindi-Islamabad would only intensify the struggle against dictatorship.

He said in the coming days traders would also participate in the protests arranged by journalists, lawyers, students and civil society.—Our Reporter
