Aces lead the pack

KARACHI, Dec 1: Formidable Aces have amassed 47 IMP to lead the table at the completion of two rounds on the opening day of the two-day KC Open team bridge championship which got underway at the KC premises on Saturday.

The Aces quartet comprises Abdul Khaliq, Nasir, Ghaffar Qureshi and Naseem Arzo.

They are closely followed by Inbox (44 IMP) and Steadfast (40IMP).

Shufflers from 18 teams including one from Hyderabad, are competing for honours in the annual event which carries a total purse of Rs55,000. A total of seven rounds will be played in the contest.

The participants include eight ladies.

According to Raza Naqvi, secretary, Bridge Committee KC, the winner will receive Rs25,000, runners-up Rs15,000 third place Rs10,000 and fourth Rs5,000.

Prominent teams include Sindh Club, Karachi Club,

EFU, Raaj International, Candyland, Inbox, Data Steel and Hyderabad.—Sports Correspondent
