Gunmen kill 2 schoolchildren in Bannu

BANNU, Nov 30: Two schoolchildren of a family were killed and two others were injured when some gunmen lying in ambush, opened fire on them in the Domanzi area here on Friday, officials and residents said.

The children aged between 10 and 12 years were on way to their primary school in the Sherza Khan village when they were attacked.

The victims were identified as Khalilur Rehman, 10, son of Hizar Hayat; and Saira, 10, daughter of Noor Wali Shah. The children died on the spot. The injured children – Zubair, 12, and Abdullah, 10 -- were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu city.

Witnesses said the attackers were lying in ambush and fled after the incident.

The Basyakhel Police Station have registered a case against some accused, including Mujib, Riaz, Haleem and Sabeel, and started search for them.

Tension gripped the entire area after the news of the tragic incident spread. However, police pacified the people and assured them that culprits would be arrested soon.
