Karzai looks for better ties

KABUL, Nov 30: Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Friday expressed the hope that Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s term as a civilian president would see “greater and more effective” cooperation against extremism confronting both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In a statement, he hoped that cooperation in the “war on terrorism and its subsequent challenges ... is greater and more effective.”

Mr Karzai said his nation was committed to good relations with Pakistan and wished its people prosperity, stability and security.—APP
