India capture golf trophy

GREATER NOIDA, Nov 30: Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev led the Indian team to victory in another sport as the hosts beat Pakistan 15.5-8.5 to lift their third successive Ravi Kirloskar Trophy on Friday.

Kapil competed in the 40-50 age group and beat his rival Shuabuddin 6/5. Kapil’s two other team mates in this category also registered wins but Col Ajay Singh lost to Shah Fakhar Imam to make it 3-1 in favour of India.

In over 50-year category, Vikramjit Singh was the lone Indian to win as he beat Abbas Mirza 2/1. Gangesh Khaitan drew his match with Imran Ahmed, while Vijay Kumar and Dr V. Date lost their games.

India notched up three wins against a solitary loss in the national team category.—Agencies
