Munir Malik admitted to SIUT

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 29: Munir A. Malik, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, was flown to the city from Islamabad on Thursday and admitted to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).

In Islamabad, he was undergoing treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences after he was brought there from the Attock jail when his health condition started deteriorating.

Mr Malik had been detained after the imposition of the state of emergency. The detention order was withdrawn while he was at the Pims.

According to a doctor at the SIUT, Mr Malik underwent haemodialysis in the evening. He was examined by a team of doctors headed by renowned surgeon Prof Adeebul Hasan Rizvi.

Although the doctors are hopeful about his recovery, the hospital is not allowing visitors. However, a register has been assigned for visitors who want to record their feelings and get-well messages.
