RAWALPINDI, Nov 29: Lawyers of Rawalpindi, Attock and Taxila observed Thursday as Black Day to protest the oath-taking of Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf as civilian president.
The Black Day call was given by Pakistan Bar Council to protest not only the oath-taking of Gen (retired) Musharraf as president, but also the statement of the interior minister about the eviction of deposed judges from their official residences.

The general body meeting of District Bar Association (DBA) was convened in connection with Black Day.

Later, the lawyers staged a rally within the courts premises. They chanted slogans in favour of removed judges and against the emergency.
ATTOCK: Lawyers in Attock completely boycotted courts and remained at their chambers and district bar. They also observed three-hour hunger strike against the imposition of emergency and arrests of lawyers, judges and rights activists throughout the country and curbs on media.
Speaking on the occasion, the lawyers including district Bar Association (DBA) president Rana Afsar Ali Khan and Sheikh Ahsanuddin advocate criticised the eight-year rule of Pervez Musharraf.
They said removal of uniform was not enough. In fact, he should restore all deposed judges including Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
They resolved that their movement would not end with the removal of Musharraf’s uniform but would continue till the supremacy of the Constitution and press freedom were restored.
