First winter rain

PESHAWAR, Nov 29: Several areas in the NWFP and the tribal region received the first rain of the winter season on Thursday evening, breaking a long dry spell, local meteorological office said. A Met official said southern parts of the province had received widespread rain.

He forecast snowfall in the hilly areas of the region in the next 24 hours. The Met office recorded 19mm of rainfall in Kohat, 13mm in Bannu, 4mm in Peshawar and 3mm in Cherat.

The minimum temperature in Peshawar was recorded at seven degrees Celsius as thick fog reduced visibility in the area.
