ISLAMABAD, Nov 28: Bobby Milroy of Canada won the men’s singles title while Slovenia’s Turdy Maja became the ladies singles champion in the International Challenge badminton tournament at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, on Wednesday.

Bobby defeated India’s Arvind Bhatt 21-14, 15-21, 21-15 while Turdy overpowered fellow Slovenian Kersnik Maja 21-16, 21-11.

Hosts Pakistan had the consolation of winning the men’s doubles title when Kashif Sulehri and Waqas Ahmed overcame compatriots Mohammad Attique and Rizwan Azam 21-17, 21-18.

In women’s doubles, Jawala Dutta and Shruti Kurian of India knocked out Sri Lanka’s Thilini Jayasinghe and Renu Chandrika 21-13, 21-14.

The mixed doubles title was won by India’s Diju V. and Aparna Balan, who beat Diluka Karunaratne and Renu Chandrika of Sri Lanka 21-11, 21-12.—APP
