KOLKATA, Nov 27: Promising middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq’s condition worsened here on Tuesday as he continued to suffer from viral fever on the fifth consecutive day.
Misbah, who was the top scorer in both the innings for Pakistan in the first Test, was forced to stay away from the field for almost a day and a half in the New Delhi match owing to feverish condition.
There was no change in Misbah’s condition as the team landed in Kolkata on Tuesday while reliable team sources said the player’s temperature had, in fact, gone up.
It was still unclear at the time of writing whether the team management had asked for reinforcement at this stage. Two of the national selectors — committee’s chief Salahuddin Ahmed and Shafqat Rana — are already in India. The second Test is scheduled to start from Friday here at the Eden Gardens.—KH
