HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The doors for organising international level matches at the historic Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad, have reopened after the successful organisation of Monday’s one-day match between the Pakistan and Bangladesh U-19 cricket teams here.

According to the officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the people of Hyderabad and interior Sindh would soon be able to enjoy international level matches between Pakistan and the other countries at the stadium.

The PCB expressed its satisfaction over the thick grassy outfield which was laid out recently to replace the muddy surface.

According to reports, the PCB authorities were considering to schedule an international match at the historic centre against Zimbabwe during their tour of Pakistan early next year.

The PCB also plan on building a pavilion at the Eidgah End of the stadium with 25 rooms, an indoor gymnasium and net practice facility. These indoor facilities will also prove worthwhile for Hyderabad’s Regional Cricket Academy.

In order to enhance seating capacity at the stadium, more stands would be constructed in its east and southwest portions. And with a five star hotel in the area that has already been promised by the city’s district nazim, the stadium would be able to host major cricketing events against any country pretty soon.—APP
