Pakistan look to extend lead against bd

By M. H. Khan

HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The second one-dayer between under-19 teams of Pakistan and Bangladesh is taking place at the Niaz Stadium here on Wednesday (today) with the home side confident of extending their lead while the tourists are poised to settle the scores.

Bangladesh’s medium pacer Dollar Mahmud and batsman Mithun Ali are likely to find themselves in the playing eleven. It is yet not known who would be dropped to accommodate them.

According to the Bangladesh skipper, Dollar Mahmud did not play the first match due to a bruised finger while Mithun Ali had a stomach problem.

The skipper believed his side would bounce back with the inclusion of those players.

No changes are made in the Pakistan’s playing eleven as skipper Immad Wasim is determined to win the second match with the same line-up.

The two sides had gruelling net sessions in the evening on Tuesday.

“We played really well in the first match so I don’t think any changes be made in the side,” said Immad.

He said the toss would not be an important factor because the wicket was flat and would help batsmen again.

Bangladesh skipper Sohrawardi admitted there was some disappointment in his team following their first match defeat but he was hopeful of winning the second match.

“Our batsmen played reckless shots although they should have stayed at the crease. Simultaneously, our bowlers made some mistakes at times,” he said.

Local batsman, Azeem Ghumman, has again been overlooked for the match and his exclusion was strongly defended by chief selector Naushad Ahmed.

Squads:

PAKISTAN: Adil Raza, Ahmed Shehzad, Ali Asad, Immad Wasim (captain), Junaid Khan, Jibran Khan, Junaid Nadir, Kamran Hussain, Mohammad Rameez, Shahzaib Ahmed, Shan Masood, Umar Amin, Usman Salahuddin, Omer Akmal, M. Rizwan, Umair Meer.

BANGLADESH: Tamim Iqbal Khan, Dollar Mahmud, Sohrawardi, Marshal Ayub, M. Ashraful Aziz Sujan, Mahmudul Hasan Limon, Mithun, Nasir Hossain Nasir, Syed Gulam Kibriya, K. M. Shakil, Shubhashis, Rox, Zabid Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Rony Talakdar.
