Congress held for quake-hit children

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, Nov 27: The World Vision Pakistan has organised a “children congress” for the quake-affected children in Oghi to create awareness among them about their rights.

Over 800 children from the earthquake-affected areas of Mansehra district attended the congress. They sang national songs and presented tableau highlighting experiences they had faced during and after the Oct 8, 2005, earthquake.

Addressing the participants, World Vision programme manager Dorana Javier, integrated programme manager Lydia Mutimayanoka and area development manager Sheryar Khan Bangish said the World Vision was an international non-governmental organisation which focused on child issues.

“We are encouraging the children to speak about their rights in the quake-hit areas,” they added.
