BADIN, Nov 27: Hundreds of fishermen held a demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday and demanded that the government should take action against the people involved in occupying the historical Dafri Lake situated 10 kilometres from here and depriving them of their major source of livelihood.

The protesters who were raising slogans against the lake occupiers staged a sit-in on the road opposite the club bringing traffic to a halt for some time.

The leaders of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum Abdus Salam Memon, Ghulam Rasool Mallah who led the protest condemned the lake’s occupation and said the lake was the major source of livelihood for fishermen.

They accused an employee of the Badin DPO office of being involved in the lake’s occupation. He along with his armed henchmen attacked the fishermen and occupied the lake, they alleged.—PPI
