HYDERABAD: Change in varsity bus route urged

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Nov 27: The district council here on Tuesday expressed concern over poor condition of schools in various UCs of the district and also called for change in bus route to University of Sindh to facilitate students.

Convener Zafar Ali Rajput chaired the session.

He referred to three schemes relating to citizen community boards (CCBs) to seek their recommendations.

Regarding a report presented by CCBs’ committee chairman Israr Ahmed for yet another scheme and violation of relevant laws, the convenor asked the EDO community development department to present report of CCB after a review, keeping in mind required rules and procedures.

A member, Naseem Khan tabled a resolution, calling for facilities for poor women and their children and urged the district government to take appropriate measures in this regard.

The resolution was supported by members, including Rana Siddiqui, Rashid Khan, Rauf Jafri, Ahsan Mammon and others, while arguing that district government has already increased social sector budget as many centers were working under the district government to support such women and their children.

They lauded efforts of the district nazim.

Shamim Qadir’s resolution, seeking changes in route of Sindh University buses and increase in their number to facilitate students, was adopted by the house.

The convenor announced the formation of a delegation that would meet the university’s vice chancellor to discuss the problem.

The members including Hussain Bux Hussaini, Mehboob Abro, Sajida Baloch, Pervez Ranjha, Rozina Fasahat, Zahida Memon and Malik Rafiq supported Yamin Soomro’s resolution for dilapidated condition of middle school of Shahbaz Town.
