KARACHI: CM’s House road being dug up

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Nov 27: A considerably portion of Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road opposite the Chief Minister’s House has been dug up yet again to replace a major sewer which had sustained heavy damage a couple of months back and created a wide crater in the middle of the road.

The affected portion of the road had been dug up soon after the incident in the vicinity, already declared a high security zone, but the road was opened after repairing the pipeline on a temporary basis as the traffic mess all around was badly affecting movement of VIPs and clients of major hotels in particular and ordinary people in general.

A spokesman for the city government told Dawn on Tuesday that a 76-inch-dia sewer was now being laid to replace the old one that had been laid in 1960. The sewer that ran between Shaheen Complex and the Clifton Pumping Station was being laid at a cost of Rs10 million, he said, adding that the work was expected to be completed within a fortnight.
