KARACHI: Two more dengue patients die

KARACHI, Nov 26: Two more patients of dengue fever died at a private hospital, bringing the official death toll to 22 since the outbreak of the disease in the city about 10 months ago.

While people suspected of suffering from viral haemorrhagic fever continued to report at various hospitals during the last 24 hours ending at 3pm on Monday, Dr Shakeel Mullick, in charge of provincial dengue monitoring cell, said the two deceased were in-house patient at the Aga Khan University Hospital.

One of them was 55. He was admitted to the Aga Khan University Hospital on Nov 14. He died here on Friday. The patient was a resident of Sultanabad, Golimar.

A 23-year-old woman resident of Sadiqabad was rushed to the hospital with the symptoms of dengue fever on Nov 12. Tested positive for dengue virus, she died at the hospital on Nov 24.

With the fresh arrivals of 20 patients in city hospitals on Monday, the total number of admitted patients soared up to 65.
