KARACHI: SNF to field ‘independent candidates’

KARACHI, Nov 26: The Sindh National Front (SNF) announced that it had already decided to boycott the upcoming elections but its nominated candidates would contest the polls ‘independently’.

The decision was taken during an emergent meeting of the SNF central committee here on Monday.

It alleged that under the caretaker setup in Sindh, where the MQM had already up to 95 per cent administrative control, holding of free and free polls was not possible.

The participants of the meeting were of the view that since there was no hope for transparent elections, the SNF candidates, who had submitted their nomination papers would contest as independent candidates.

It noted that the imposition of emergency rule and declaration of PCO was illegal and in violation of the constitution. It asked the government to stop use of force in the tribal areas in the NWFP and Balochistan.—PPI
