PML-N poll decision on 28th

By Our Political Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 25: PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif will preside over a meeting of his party’s central working committee in a few days to finalise the party’s election policy.

It will be followed by a meeting of the APDM to decide whether to contest or boycott the elections.

The PML-N meeting was earlier scheduled to be held on Saturday, but was cancelled by Mr Sharif. According to party sources, it may be held on Wednesday.

The sources said that boycotting the elections would be effective only if all major parties, including the PPP, decided to stay away. However, if parties like the JUI (F) and the PPP contested the elections, besides the PML and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, a boycott would be counter-productive.

The PML-N leaders think that the PML and its allies had done little for the people over the past five years and they could not win even a simple majority.

They say that a collective decision by all anti-Musharraf parties would frustrate the elements supporting the dictatorship.
