HYDERABAD, Nov 25: Former speaker of the National Assembly Illahi Bux Soomro, former federal minister Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi, PPP leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and former provincial minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh were among over 102 candidates who filed nomination papers for national and provincial assembly seats in different districts on Sunday.
The majority of political heavyweights would reportedly file forms on Monday after the election commission extended last date till Monday 12:00pm.
In Hyderabad and its adjourning districts, 22 candidates submitted forms, including MMA leader Abdul Rehman Rajput, Mir Sher Mohammad Talpur, Mazharul Haq (PML), Sudhamo Lal Ahuja (Sindh United Party) and Ali Murad (PML-N).
In Jamshoro, 15 forms were issued for three PS seats. Liaquat Ali Jatoi also obtained a form for PS-73 in the district.
In Tando Allahyar three forms were submitted for NA-223 while nobody turned up to file forms in Tando Mohammad Khan district where 11 forms were issued for PS-53 and PS-54.
In Naushahro Feroze, 20 candidates filed forms for two NA and five PS seats.
In Shikarpur, seven candidates including former provincial minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh Jatoi filed forms for NA-202.
In Dadu, former minister Liaquat Jatoi and PPP leader Mazharul Haq were among the candidates who submitted nomination forms.
In Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadot districts, 42 candidates including PPP leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro filed nomination papers. Anwar Bhutto filed papers for NA-204 as a cover candidate for Ms Benazir Bhutto.
In Jacobabad, former speaker of National Assembly Illahi Bux Soomro filed forms for NA-208.
In Mithi, Sharjeel Memon (PPP), Imdad Ali (PPP) submitted nomination forms for NA-230 and Mahesh Kumar Malani (PPP) filed for NA-229.
In Nawabshah and many other districts candidates continued getting and filing nomination papers till the filing of this report.
