SWABI: Political parties’ participation in elections criticised

By Our Correspondent

SWABI, Nov 25: The legal community said on Sunday that if the politicians decided to take part in the elections they would be strengthening Gen Pervez Musharraf’s grip on power.

Salim Khan advocate, former general-secretary of the Awami National Party, said the agencies wanted to create differences among the parties making up the All Parties Democratic Movement but they had foiled the conspiracy by adopting the good strategy of calling for withdrawal of emergency.

Changaiz Khan, general-secretary of the Swabi Bar Association, said the APDM had made the right decision and all parties should join them in putting pressure on the government to reverse its recent decisions.
