LAHORE, Nov 24: Fast bowler Mohammad Asif’s recovery from his elbow injury is going better than expected and there is an outside chance that he could still play a part in the Test series against India.
The fast bowler missed the one-day series against India because of a problem with his right elbow.
Shafqat Naghmi, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chief operating officer, says they are hopeful that the fast bowler could be available for selection for the final Test in Bangalore starting on December 8.
“Asif is making good progress and will be leaving for Australia within the next few days because we want him to see another specialist there just to be on the safe side,” Naghmi said. “It is because of the different viewpoints that the Board has decided to send Asif to Australia to get one more opinion.
“Asif is an important player for us and we are trying our best to help him get fit as soon as possible. If he (Asif) is fit and is needed by the team then he might play in Bangalore.”
