Khaksars to boycott elections

Published November 25, 2007

LAHORE, Nov 24: The Khaksar Tehrik on Saturday announced boycott of the forthcoming general elections.

At a press conference here on Saturday, tehrik president Hamiduddin Al-Mashriqi said the party had decided to boycott the elections in accordance with the decision taken by its Majlis-i-Shoora.

The shoora had declared that fair elections were not possible in the presence of military dictatorship.

He said Khaksar Tehrik was of the view that the elections would not be peaceful because of seeds of discord sown by Gen Pervez Musharraf.

He thanked the Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman for accepting the proposal of Khaksars to boycott elections and called upon other political parties to announce a ‘collective boycott’ and start a campaign against dictatorship.
