HYDERABAD, Nov 24: Lawyers in many districts and towns of the province boycotted courts on Saturday on the call given by the Pakistan Bar Council in protest against imposition of emergency and dismissal of judges of higher and apex courts.
They did not appear in civil or sessions courts, hoisted black flags on bar offices, held general body meetings and wore black armbands in protest.
District Bar Association leaders Chaudhry Bashir, Fazal Qadir Memon and Abdul Khaliq Leghari demanded reinstatement of judges of superior judiciary and release of Aitzaz Ahsan, Munir A. Malik, Ali Ahmed Kurd, Hamid Khan and Tariq Mehmood.
They paid tributes to the arrested lawyers for their relentless struggle for the restoration of democracy and said that the advocates would leave no stone unturned in their struggle for an independent judiciary.
They demanded removal of Chief Election Commissioner and resignation of president.
In Nawabshah, DBA members boycotted court proceedings and held general body meeting.
