BCCI rules out rescheduling Kolkata Test

NEW DELHI, Nov 22: Despite Wednesday’s large-scale violence in Kolkata, the Indian Cricket Board has ruled out a rescheduling of the second India-Pakistan Test match scheduled in the eastern metropolis from November 30-December 4.

”As far as the BCCI is concerned, the second Test will not be rescheduled,” Board Vice President Rajeev Shukla said on Thursday.

”However, if the staging association (Cricket Association of Bengal) feels it is not in a position to hold the match, we would take a decision at that time,” he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Army was called in to check large-scale violence that broke out in central Kolkata during a shutdown called by a Muslim outfit demanding expulsion of controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen and protesting against the turmoil in Nandigram.—Agencies
