Pace Polo Cup

LAHORE, Nov 22: A winning goal by Arhan Asad’s horse helped Rangers beat a strong Guard Rice 6-5 in the Pace Polo Cup here on Thursday. Rangers led the first chukker 3-1 as Arhan opened the account with a field goal and Sajid struck back-to-back. Taimur Mawaz Khan, who scored four for the losing side, fired first.

In the second chukker Taimur pumped in two more to reduce the lead to 4-3 as Asif Zahoor scored one for the Rangers.

The third chukker saw Guard Rice earn the lead 5-4 for the first time as Taimur scored his fourth goal and Taimur Ali Malik one.

In the fourth chukker, Asif Zahoor restored the parity to 5-5 before Arhan’s horse succeeded in doing wonders for the Rangers.

Two goals each by Kashif Jamal and Hassan Ali Farrukh guided Hattaf Security to a 6 1/2-5 win over Charbagh Riders. Feroze Gulzar and Kumail Murtaza added one goal each for the winners, who had a half goal handicap. For the losing side, Munawar Baig scored four while Kasim Ahmad Khan chipped in one.

Four goals by Junaid Ahmed propelled Karachi Riding School to a 9-5 win over Goodwill Foods. Bilal Haye (2), Abdul Haseeb Mehta (2) and Anas Sheikh (1) were the other scorers. Mohsin Atta Khan Khosa (2), Tanvir Tariq (1), Mir Shoaib (1) and Moin Yaqub (1) reduced the margin for the losing side.
