Man shot dead; two others killed on road

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22: A man was shot dead by his rival while two persons were killed in different road accidents, police said here on Thursday. Abdul Qayyum, 50, a landlord of Sahiwal was shot and injured by some person(s) near Nogazi at Tarnol.

He was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where he died.

The police said when the capital city was being developed Mr Qayyum, a native of village Malkan Islamabad, was given land at Sahiwal in exchange for his land in Islamabad.

Police said the family member of the deceased accused the locals for murdering Mr Qayyum over old enmity.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider suffered multiple injuries when they were hit by a speeding vehicle at Karal.

Mohammad Rashid and Mohammad Liaqat were shifted to the hospital where Rashid was pronounced dead, while Liaqat was stated to be in critical condition.

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle near carriage factory. The body of the deceased was shifted to the mortuary of Pims for identification and legal process.

Meanwhile, Station House Officer of Karal Police Station was transferred to Police Line Headquarters on Thursday. Inspector Idrees Rathore has replaced Inspector Mohammad Hussain Lasi, who has been transferred from Police Lines Headquarters to Karal police station.
