LAYYAH, Nov 21: The district and session judge here on Wednesday ordered the local police to record the statement of complainant under Section 154 Cr.P.C and register a case against nine policemen for taking possession of an official residence forcefully if facts of the case constitute the commission of a cognisable offence.

The official residence No E-10 was allotted to DSP Safdar Mahmood Marrah after incumbent occupant, District Zakat Officer (DZO) Muhammad Yaqoob Japaa, was transferred to Bhakkar. The DZO had not vacated the house, but, in the meantime, his transfer orders were revoked and he was allowed to continue working on his current posting.

Since the residence had been allotted to the DSP, he along with his eight subordinates took its possession forcefully on Friday. They allegedly thrashed DZO’s cook, Muhammad Ramzan, and threw him out of the house on resistance.

Ramzan filed a petition before District and Sessions Judge Ataaullah Kousar who on Wednesday directed the city station house officer to record Ramzan’s statement under Section 154 of the Cr.P.C and register a case against DSP and his subordinates if they had committed any offence relating to house trespassing.

On the court premises, DSP Safdar threatened DZO Yaqoob of dire consequences for pursuing the case, on which Mr Yaqoob promptly filed a petition in the court. The court admitted the petition for hearing and issued notice to the respondent DSP for Nov 27.

ROBBERY: Robbers deprived a commission agent of Rs300,000 near Chak No 487 in Chaubara police precincts on Wednesday.

Zahoor Ahmed, commission agent, had sold cotton to Sharifabad Cotton Factory. He was returning to his village on his jeep after collecting payment. When he reached near Chak 487, robbers, who were chasing him on a motorcar, took him on gunpoint, snatched Rs300,000 and fled. The police have registered a case.
