SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 20: Factory area police on Tuesday registered a case against 60 people, including a brother and father of a UC nazim, for attacking a raiding team at Kot Pindi Das village.

Reports said a police team, led by Ferozewala DSP Malik Hayat, had raided the village to arrest some criminals a few days back. On seeing the police, the accused opened fire, injuring Malik Hayat and forcing the officials to retreat. They also set DSP’s jeep on fire.

On Tuesday, a heavy police contingent raided the area but could not make any arrest.

However, police registered a case against 60 villagers.

UC nazim Pervez Rana’s father Abdullah and brother Muzaffar Rana are said to be ringleaders of the assailants.

Further investigation is under way.
