Saleh comes from behind to win in Thailand


KARACHI, Nov 19: Pakistan’s Saleh Mohammad fought back from 2-3 down to defeat Simon Zammit of Malta 4-3 in an IBSF World snooker championship match in Korat, Thailand on Monday.

According to information received by the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association here, Saleh won by scores of 17-78,

67-20, 55-47, 17-90, 20-61, 60-29, 55-0.

The Pakistani is at fifth position in Group ‘C’. He should win his last two matches to advance to the knockout stage.

Saleh will face Ireland’s Joseph Maera in his next match on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s another player Imran Shahzad suffered his third defeat in Group ‘F’. He lost to Thailand’s Atthasit Mahitthi 2-4.

Imran snatched third and fifth frames but his Thai opponent was too good to record his ninth straight win with scores of 61-11, 70-57, 9-63, 78-32, 73-75, 108-13.

Imran will meet Latvia’s Sergey Kolkov on Tuesday.—Agencies
