PTCL worker shot dead in robbery

ISLAMABAD, Nov 19: An employee of the Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) was shot dead during a robbery at his house on Sunday night, police said. Five persons armed with modern and sophisticated weapons entered the house of Ghulam Murtaza located in Bunni Saran village, Rawat with intention of robbery. The culprits were intercepted by Mr Murtaza when they were searching valuables in the house. One of the robber opened fire on him when he tried to overpower them.

He was hit in the abdomen and started bleeding profusely. The robbers escaped from the scene when neighbours and people of area gathered in front of the house after hearing the gunshot. Later, the injured was shifted to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. A case of murder was registered against the culprits and the police started investigation.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was killed after being his by a speeding vehicle at Sarai Karboza.

Farooq Bibi, 55, suffered multiple injuries when a speeding passenger vehicle hit her while she was crossing a road.
