Ombudsman issues notice to policemen

DADU, Nov 19: The regional director of Sindh Ombudsman on Monday issued notices to the TPO and the SHO of Faiz Ganj police station directing them to appear in his office on Dec 1 on charges of illegally detaining a 70-year-old man and his relative for 16 days after they refused to pay the SHO bribe.

Haji Khan complained to the Dadu office of regional director that the SHO raided his home in Arbab Khaskheli village of Naushahro Feroze and took away his 70-year-old father Mohammad Ibrahim and his cousin Zulfiqar without any charges.

He said that police kept them in illegal detention for 16 days at different police stations of Khairpur district after they refused to pay him Rs30,000 as bribe and finally handed them over to Padidan police who released his father and cousin after he approached the ombudsman office, he said and demanded action against the police officers.
