FAISALABAD, Nov 19: District bar association members on Monday invited people from all segment of society to the Justice Square to pay homage to courageous judges who refused to take oath under the Provisional Constitution Order (PCO).

Bar joint secretary Nadeem Salimi said that a register meant for public comments had been placed at the Justice Square, raised within the bar premises.

The bar also displayed a decorated picture of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. Mr Salimi said that Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed (retired) was scheduled to visit the district bar on Nov 23.

Meanwhile, lawyers continued their boycott of court proceedings on Monday.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Lawyers and journalists held a joint protest meeting in the district bar hall to show unity in struggle against curbs on media and violation of human rights.

SIALKOT: The Daska Bar Association has established a special zone on the lawns of courts which is attributed to former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. Lawyers announced providing free legal aid in this zone to the poor and oppressed people.

The lawyers’ community in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur, Shakargarh and Narowal observed a complete strike and stayed away from courts on Monday.

GUJRANWALA: Members of the district bar association continued their strike but started pleading cases for three hours daily on the directive of the Punjab Bar Council here on Monday.

The meeting decided that lawyers would observe a complete boycott of courts on every Thursday and take out protest rallies till the release of the arrested lawyers and reinstatement of apex court judges.
