KARACHI, Nov 19: The All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (Apnec), Karachi, has asked the caretaker government to immediately lift the state of emergency, restore freedom of expression and honour its oath by respecting the Constitution and play its role to steer the country and the nation out of the present crisis.
The demands were made at an Apnec meeting held at the Karachi Press Club on Monday to observe the ‘day of deliverance from Shaukat Aziz’.
The meeting also demanded appointment of the chairman of the implementation tribunal for newspaper employees and lifting of all restrictions on the media.
A resolution adopted at the meeting urged owners of the electronic and print media to do way with the contract system and restore the fundamental rights of the employees in their organisations.
