Policeman shot dead over property dispute

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 18: A head constable of Islamabad police was shot dead by his rival over a property dispute here on Sunday, officials said.

The deceased identified as Allahyar was posted at the Police Line Headquarters.

The police said Allahyar’s brother Altaf had a dispute with the owner of Ghosia Plaza located at Shakrial. The head constable along with his brother went to the plaza to settle the issue, but a scuffle broke out between the two parties after exchange of harsh words.

During the scuffle, one of Altaf’s rivals pulled out his weapon and opened fire on them. As a result, the head constable suffered a bullet injury close to his heart and died on the spot.

A large number of people gathered at the spot after hearing the gunshot and overpowered the two rivals, who were later handed over to the police along with the murder weapon.

The police shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medial Sciences (Pims) for legal process. A case has been registered against the accused on charge of murder.

The police said that the victim’s brother claimed that he rented the shops, while the accused alleged that he occupied the property.
