HYDERABAD: NGO to launch Aids awareness programme


HYDERABAD, Nov 18: The Sindh Health and Education Development Society (SHEDS) plans to launch a week-long programme from Nov 26 to create awareness about the affects of HIV/Aids.

The programme will coincide with the World Aids Day to be observed on Dec 1.

The manager of the centre “Behtar Kal Programme” of SHEDS, Wajid Shams Memon, said the programme would create awareness among members of the community and different segments of the society.

According to the programme, he said a theatre on HIV/ Aids would be organised in collaboration with Sindh Reserve Police Hyderabad on November 26.

The SHEDS in collaboration with the OPD of Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad would organise an HIV/ Aids awareness camp in the hospital premises on November 27.

A cricket match would also be played between Hyderabad Press Club and Taluka Hyderabad City while on November 29, a day with peers working on HIV/ Aids would be observed at Askari Park, Hyderabad.

On November 30, an advocacy seminar on HIV/ Aids would be organised at the auditorium of Hyderabad Press Club and on December 1, the World Aids Day, a walk against HIV/ Aids would be held from Hyderabad Gymkhana to Hyderabad Press Club in collaboration with the District Task Force on HIV/ Aids.—APP
