KARACHI, Nov 18: Hundreds of relatives and friends attended the funeral prayers of veteran actor Shafi Mohammad Shah on Sunday at Imambargah Yasrab.

Late Shah, one of the leading TV artistes of Pakistan, had died peacefully in his sleep at his home in DHA on Saturday night.

Hundreds of his admirers including famous personalities on the scene of Pakistani performing arts attended the funeral prayers. Mr Shah was later buried in a nearby graveyard.

“He was a great actor, he was a great human and teacher as well,” said Qaisar Khan Nizamani, director and actor.

Mr Shah was born in district Nawabshah’s Kandiaro Town in 1949 and started his artistic career from Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad in the late 1960s. His first TV play was ‘Moti-a Jehro Mann-e”, in Sindhi produced and telecast in 1972.

He was introduced by legendary PTV producer late Shahzad Khalil in Urdu drama in his serial “Teesra Kinara” from where he joined the elite club of the leading TV stars.
