KARACHI, Nov 18: Despite a lapse of about four months, the city government has failed to award a contract to develop, operate and manage the five CNG stations meant for a big fleet of public transport buses to be inducted in the city’s existing network soon.

In July, the city government had invited expression of interest (EoI) from the interested parties for the purpose and received offers from 33 private companies. At that time, the CDGK had stated that it would finalise the process by mid-August. However, no remarkable progress has been made so far.

EDO Transport Mohammad Athar told Dawn on Saturday that a thorough scrutiny of the offers was under way.

The five sites proposed for the establishment of the CNG station are: KTC depots in Orangi Town, Malir and Surjani Town; a plot in Shah Latif Town and other one in Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s Block 6.
