KARACHI: AKUH convocation


KARACHI, Nov 17: The country is being faced with a shortage of around 30,000 doctors. Presently, 117,973 doctors are registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and 24,000 nurses with the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC).

This was stated by the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Shamshad Akhtar. She was speaking as chief guest at the 20th annual convocation of the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) here on Saturday.

As many as 79 doctors and 74 nurses took oath at the completion of their bachelors at the Aga Khan University. Further, 64 received diplomas in general nursing, while 60 received master’s degrees in different disciplines.—PPI
