Seven killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Nov 17: US troops killed seven suspects and detained 10 others on Saturday in raids across central and northern Iraq, the military said.

In one operation northeast of Samarra, US soldiers killed two armed suspects in a house believed to be used as an Al Qaeda in Iraq propaganda base, the US military said in a statement.

Four other suspects were seen running into an adjacent building, the statement said. US forces called for them to come out, but no one responded, so the Americans “engaged the armed men, killing four” of them, it said.

Later on Saturday, the US military issued another statement saying it had killed “a main logistics facilitator...and chief financial officer to criminal elements”.—AP
