LAHORE, Nov 16: A police official, who forcibly bundled a woman into a police van during a protest demonstration of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf on Thursday, has been suspended from service on the direction of Capital City Police Officer Malik Iqbal.

The official has also been served with a show-cause notice to explain why he shouldn’t be terminated.

According to a spokesman, the CCPO took serious notice of a photograph published in the press and directed the Model Town SP to identify the official. He is identified as Aqif Waseem of Garden Town police station.

The CCPO also directed all divisional SPs to deploy lady police in future to handle women protesters.—Staff Reporter
