PTI worker tries to burn himself

LAHORE, Nov 16: An activist of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) attempted self-immolation at a protest rally on Multan Road on Friday against the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan.

Tariq Javed Butt, president of Samanabad Town unit of the party, was badly burnt by the time other protesters could put off the blaze, says PTI Lahore Vice-President Arshad Meo, who led the protest rally outside Shahnoor Studios.

MMA activists staged small demonstrations in various areas to mark Friday as protest day against imposition of emergency rule.

The venues were Township main bazaar, Shahnoor Studios and Mohlinwal, Mozang Chungi, Minhala in Wagah Town, Takia Shah Sardar in Ichhra, Alhamd Colony, Chowk Naunarain in Gulshan Ravi, Gulberg and Jamia Naziria on Ferozepur Road.
