ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: The prime minister, all chief ministers and some federal ministers will get VIP security till the conclusion of general elections.

Sources in the Interior Ministry told Dawn on Thursday that extraordinary facilities would be provided to leaders of the ruling party even after they left public offices.

The sources said an order issued to this effect by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would benefit the prime minister, ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) president Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, Chief Ministers Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Shamsul Mulk and Jam Yousaf, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam.

An interior ministry official said the decision was taken in view of the recent spate of suicide bombings.
