PFF enhances prize money

By Our Sports Reporter

LAHORE, Nov 15: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has increased the prize money for the ongoing fourth Pakistan Premier League.

The 14-team show now offers Rs.500,000 to the winners instead of Rs.300,000, whereas runners-up team will walk away with Rs.300,000 instead of Rs.200,000. The third-placed team will receive Rs 200,000 instead of Rs 100,000.

Similarly, the individual prizes have also been increased. The most valuable player will get Rs. 50,000, while leading scorer and best goal-keeper will pocket Rs. 30,000 each. There was no prize for keeper in the past.

In order to promote sportsmanship, PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat had also decided to hand over Rs.50,000 to winner of Fair Play trophy.

It is first time in history of Pakistan’s sports that cash prize will be given to Fair Play trophy winner.” Fair Play has a fundamental role in sport and there is a need to apply it to all sporting activities, especially PFF’s age-limit events, Faisal said.

In addition, Rs. 36,40,000 will be distributed among participants as bonus. Each match has Rs.20,000 as bonus, including Rs 15,000 for the winners and remaining for the losers. PFF will also pay additional Rs. 200,000 to three participating clubs in order to shrug off the financial burden from them in meeting their accommodation and traveling charges.
