PESHAWAR, Nov 15: The NWFP government has computerised the property tax record of the Peshawar district for the Excise and Taxation Department.

NWFP Secretary Science and Technology and Information Technology Zahoor Ahmad Khalil and Secretary Excise and Taxation Muzaffar Ali Afridi jointly inaugurated the project here on Thursday.

According to officials, the project has been completed by a private firm, M/S Acrologix, in two years at a cost of Rs23.375 million.

Computerisation of tax record would ensure transparent and automatic system, which would provide various facilities to taxpayers.

Mr Khalil appreciated the efforts of the IT Department and M/S Acrologic for achieving the target in a shortest time.

He said in the first phase the tax record of the Peshawar district had been computerised and the issuance of computerised challan of property tax would be started soon. He said the system would also be introduced in 16 other districts of the province.

Mr Khalil said the professional tax of the Excise and Taxation Department would also be computerised soon.
