Restrictions to go soon: Maqbool

MULTAN, Nov 14: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool here on Wednesday said emergency would be lifted soon.

Talking to journalists at the Nishtar Medical College after distributing cheques among 148 deserving patients suffering from hepatitis and other dangerous diseases, the governor said interim setup would soon be in place to hold fair elections.

To a question, he said the `temporary’ curbs on media would also be lifted very soon.

Answering another question the Governor Punjab said that those refusing oath under the PCO had ceased to be judges, though they had not been removed from service.

Maqbool said Gen Musharraf had been serving the nation wholeheartedly and his `prudent’ steps had brought prosperity to the country.

He said to address the problem of price hike a network of utility stores was being established all over the country.—APP
