KARACHI: Anti-emergency rally

KARACHI, Nov 14: Activists and supporters of the Labour Party Pakistan (LPP) staged a protest demonstration in Site area on Wednesday against emergency, crackdown on political leaders and activists, restrictions on media and the recent actions against judiciary. A large number of factory workers took part in the rally.

Participants of the rally demanded restoration of the Constitution, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and all other judges removed on Nov 3 and an immediate lifting of all restrictions on media.

They also demanded release of Nisar Shah, Yousuf Mastikhan, Mir Hasil Bizenjo, Akhtar Hussain advocate and other political detainees.

They commended lawyers and journalists for waging a valiant struggle for the restoration of fundamental rights, press freedom and an independent judiciary.—Staff Reporter
